This week I am on the roster. So welcome to my sewing space!
Pam asked us some specific questions about our sewing space - which you can head on over to read, but I am all about pictures here.
I have been in this space for a year now and I am smitten with it. Two big windows means lots of natural light and I have the whole room to myself which is even better!
Cutting, sewing and apparently computing all happen on this sturdy table. I usually pull the ironing board right over so I just swivel in my chair as I am working. Height of laziness. I am not ashamed
Larger cuts, batting and fabric scraps live in this great dresser I rescued from a yard sale, the old singer on top was also a yard sale find which my generous quilting friend (and all over perfect friend really) let me have even though she saw it first!
I have a wee closet that is great storage for WiPs, movies, batting etc etc. Movies you ask? I never sew without a movie on. Or maybe some TV series binge watching.
Another Ikea gem is this "kitchen" cart. This is one of my favorite things. It hold all of my notions right where I need them and can follow me around on wheels. Basting supplies live on the bottom, middle holds EPP and odds and sods and on top everything else that I use all the time. LOVE
And of course no tour is complete without the design wall. I had never had one before I moved into this space and it was the first thing that I did. I duct taped panels of foam insulation together, covered them with batting and nailed them to the wall. Awesome. I have some batting droop at the bottom that is mainly because my cat Penny attacked it one day. Sigh.
So that's it. A quick tour of my sewing space. I love this room. It truly is my happy place. Whether I am actually quilting or just fussing around organizing fabric, I am in heaven.
What is your sewing space like? Are you in love, do you long for more? I would love to hear about it. And don't forget to drop in at Mad About Patchwork to check out some more amazing creative spaces!
I could settle right in to your sewing room. It's so bright and roomy. I'd love to have space to leave my design wall up all the time. I also have a studio cat who loves to attack anything and everything she can get her paws on. It wouldn't be the same without them. Thanks for the tour.ReplyDelete
What a lovely sewing room you have. so bright and organized. Does your old Singer work?ReplyDelete
Your space is beautiful!ReplyDelete
Looks like a lovely place to work in. I have one of the ikea carts for sewing supplies and love it! I bought a 2nd for my kids craft supplies... easy to roll in and out of the closet they get kept in. Great idea to keep the ironing board at sitting height!ReplyDelete
Very nice! Where are all the piles of fabric? lolReplyDelete
your space looks great - nice and bright! We Maritimers always need to be near the ocean, don't we?!ReplyDelete
great to see where you work/play ! I envy your shelving for your stash. Wish I had room for that, mine is stuffed into a closet:(ReplyDelete
thanks for sharing!
What a great room. I've been thinking about re-arranging my sewing room, but I'm limited in what I can do.ReplyDelete
I now feel much better about my stash.ReplyDelete
I binge watch TV too when sewing! Just caught up on Once upon a time!ReplyDelete
Love your sewing space. All that natural light and so organized.ReplyDelete
Very beautiful space :) Very inspiring for me to organize mine again!ReplyDelete
Please tell me your room isn't always so neat and tidy! I almost bought that kitchen cart the last time I was in Ikea but talked myself out of it. It would have been great to hold all of my random sewing stuff. Oh well!ReplyDelete
Your space is dreamy, Adrienne! I love all that natural light!ReplyDelete
You have a very lovely sewing space, Adrienne! I love how organized you are - everything looks easy to locate and I'm totally with you on having a place for movie storage along with fabrics. I keep favourite flicks on hand in my sewing room too! :o)ReplyDelete
