Hex Pop: A Finish

I could not resist one more finish this weekend! Don't worry, I suspect this streak of productivity may be coming to a screeching halt very soon...

Meet my Hex Pop Pillow. This is a special finish because it marks the very first check on my Library Project List.
The Library Project is a personal challenge to actually make something out of six of the books in my quilting library. You know, you buy the book (or a lot of books) and never make anything out of them? Well I am trying to change that in my little world.
So this first project is from Quilting On The Go. For this one, it was less about making an exact pattern out of the book, and more about learning the principles of English Paper Piecing and putting together an EPP kit so that I could always have an "on the go" project.

Well the kit is now established and I am hooked! There is going to be way more EPP in my future :)

The Hexies in this wee pillow are made from Flea Market Fancy from Denyse Schmidt and the outer border is Kona Papaya. A bold color, and exactly what I had envisioned.
Straight line quilting (of course) on this project in variegated thread! First time using "fun" thread, and I liked it! This little charmer is going to add some color to my studio until it finds a new home, for now I am going to enjoy the color, while I move on to the next book in the Library Project. What do you think I should do next?

This makes one final finish TGIFF OctoberQuest ! The linky party this week is over at Quilter In The Closet so off I go again :)

I hope you have a lovely sewing week and don't forget to check out the Blogger's Quilt Festival on the go right now, amazing inspiration everywhere!

  2. Love the colours! The Library Project is a brilliant idea. I have bought quite a few books in the last three years but haven't made very much from them yet. It would be a good idea for a Flickr group too!

I don't leave home without my hexie kit. Not that i get a lot of time to hand sew, but if i do get a spare minute at least i have it!

  6. This pillow is so great! That papaya looks amazing framing the FMF. I have yet to really get into EPP, but I spend so much time waiting in the car for kids that I really should, shouldn't I? I may just have to make a kit for myself!
